Flinstone like stoppingough

As the weather in Minneapolis slowly changes we have the joys of lots of ice.  During the day the snow slowly melts which in turns freezes to a nice sheet of ice.  While biking to work on Monday I came across the Greenway and 5th Ave.  This place is usually a lake of water this time of year.  It usually is deep enough that just a half inch or so freezes on the top and when you ride your bike on it you just break right through and are riding in about 6-7 inches of water.  While this can pose challenges of its own, ie trying to break a half inch sheet of ice as it hits your tire 5 inches or so up on your front tire, it is much better then riding on glare ice.  So Monday I did the little dance through the small pond and carried on my way.  I was lucky enough to get the west side of St. Loius Park before I had to use my brakes again.  The down side of not using my brakes for so long was that the water that was on my rims from the lake froze to a nice icey layer.  Needless to say while I was trying to brake I wasnt really slowing down.  This caused me to put me feet down a la Fred Flinstone and stop.  For a brief second it was a little scarey.  After that I used my brakes a bunch in order to warm them up and melt the ice.   Moral of storey is check your brakes after riding through a pond in below freezing temperatures.

I am Lost...

Maybe it is me or my generation but it seems to be that Rocky 3(oh sorry Rocky III) and Rocky IV have some great quotable lines in them.   I mean Clubber Lang was awesome in Rocky III.  "So champ what do you predict for this fight?"  "I predict Pain..."  In Rocky IV Ivan Drago provides the quotable material.  "He is like piece of Iron."  "I must break you"  Why is it that it isn't the "star" who provides the quotable  lines.  Is it that Sly truely sucks that much as an actor.  I mean Governator provides the best quotes in most of his movies.  Anyway I just find it interesting that those 2 movies are not really the greatest movies but they provide some excellent quotable lines by the villans.  Of course again maybe it is just me who thinks they are quotable.

I watched the first 2 episodes of the final season of Lost.  I thought this season was about answers.  Ok to be fair I feel there was one somewhat big question answered but there must be about 20 new ones to take its place.  One word to the wise...Fear the smoke monster.  I think I might be sad when this show ends.

41 year old hasbeen declares he will quarterback Notre Dame

That is almost as ridiculous as this story  http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/ncf/news/story?id=4888515   Of course I don't really have any eligibility left so my headline is a bit more ridiculous but still.  A 13 year old declaring where he is going to school.  He better be the next football jesus or he is destined for failure with all the pressure his parents and others are putting on him..  I don't know if I should not like him or his parents or just our stupid sports industry in general.
